Miscellaneous Chao Facts and Hints


  • The word 'chao' [pronounced "chow"] is spelled and pronounced the exact same way, whether used in the singular or plural. (just like fish)

 

  • The chao may be named after Chaos, their guardian, or vice versa. Perhaps both are named after a certain set of magical emeralds? 

 

  • Chao may do little things here and there to show they like you, if you pay attention. They may even doodle a picture of you! 

 

  • Chao were inspired by the peace-loving nightopians of NiGHTS into Dreams, a game whose innovative A-Life system became the basis of what you see today. In fact, look really closely, and you just might spot similiarites in their appearances; Chaos itself seems to share some physical traits with NiGHTS as well, neither of whom seem to be a specific gender.

 

  • Some personality types like the 'crybaby' are a little harder to manage. If you treat them exceptionally well and help to make friends, who knows- their personality may change to something more favorable!

 

  • Despite what some may say, being na�ve's not such a bad thing to be! 'Na�ve' chao are very friendly, very apt learners- don't take them for granted. Naturally congenial, they are known for mating on their own with or without a heart fruit!

  • Chao have a few special "secret" actions reserved only for the eyes of the most caring, attentive caretakers. Raise them with a lot of love, and they just might surprise you!
